AmeriCorps is a national service program that engages the energy and
idealism of the American people, especially young people, in meeting
the most critical educational, public safety, human, and environmental
needs of our communities. AmeriCorps strengthens communities, the
ethic of service, and the civic character of our people, while
rewarding those who answer the call to service with enhanced educational
opportunity.

 Learn
and Serve America
Learn and Serve America supports service-learning programs in schools
and community organizations that engage youth in addressing education, public
safety, the environment, and unmet human needs. Throughout our nation,
schools are discovering the value of service learning through projects
that link education and service. More than 4,300 New Jersey students
from kindergarten through college have been committed to community
service while improving skills and learning good citizenship.

Corporation for National Service
The corporation for National Service carries on a tradition based on
working with governor-appointed state commissions, nonprofits, faith-based
groups, schools and other civic organizations to provide opportunities
for Americans of all ages to serve their communities.
