Historical Commission to offer grant
workshops for NJ history organizations
Trenton – In February the New Jersey Historical Commission will hold workshops around the state for representatives of museums, historic sites, and other history-related organizations that are seeking general operating support funding.
These workshops will be held at locations in north, central, and south Jersey, as follows: February 6 in Trenton, February 7 in Morristown, and February 9 in Millville. The workshops are free, and will run from 10:00 AM to noon.
The Historical Commission plans to award approximately $3.5 million in general operating support grants in 2007. To be eligible for this funding an organization must be a New Jersey based nonprofit corporation or an agency of municipal or county government with a mission of service to the promotion, preservation, research, interpretation, or public presentation of New Jersey history, and must have at least a two-year track record of providing those programs. Organizations that wish to apply must send a letter of intent to the Historical Commission by March 1, 2007 and a full application by April 1. The awardees will be announced in July.
