New Jersey Secretary of State Certifies
Results of June Primary Election
(Trenton, NJ) – Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, Esq. certified the results of the state's June 2 primary election. Lists of candidates for the November 3, 2009, General Election for the office of Governor, all state Assembly seats and the two state Senate seats vacated after the 2008 general election can be found on the Division of Elections website at www.NJElections.org .
In accordance with the bills establishing electoral requirements (A3902/S2829) signed into law by Governor Jon S. Corzine today, candidates for the office of Governor have 30 days following the certification of the primary election results to select a running mate for the office of Lieutenant Governor.
The state Division of Elections will forward to each official gubernatorial candidate the forms to certify a candidate for the office of Lieutenant Governor to the Secretary of State. The completed documents must be forwarded to the Division of Elections on or before 5:00 p.m. on July 27, 2009. The procedures and deadlines are identical for all gubernatorial candidates, regardless of party affiliation.
Primary election results are not official until certified by the Secretary of State. The primary results of the last gubernatorial election were certified on July 19, 2005.
