Family Arts Festival
Presented with Young Audiences New Jersey

 

From 11:00 am until 5:00 pm; free of charge

The spring Family Arts Festival is another opportunity for fun and adventure regardless of your age. Activities will include a variety of hands-on art-making activities – a perfect way to spend quality time together. You’ll also be able to enjoy performances that will fill you soul with the lively percussion of dancers’ feet or take you away to the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. This is a wonderful afternoon of creative expression. Related New Jersey Core Curriculum Content

Standards for the art workshops is 1.1, 1.2 and 1.5 – Core Curriculum Standards for performances are noted below.

 

 

Seth Reichgott; The Appalachian Tale

11:00 AM & 2:00 PM; Auditorium; free

Come on in, set down by the fire and hear an amazing tale!  Journey to the heart of the Appalachian Mountains where the rich heritage of America still lives in story and song with Young Audiences’ favorite, Seth Reichgott as your tour guide. Through unparalleled storytelling, catchy music and lively audience participation, The Appalachian Tale explores the unique history, vibrant culture and amazing creativity of this distinctive region of the United States.  Related New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards: 1.1, 1.5, 3.4 and 6.3. 

 

 

Tap Team Two & Co.: Hoofing in America

12:30 PM & 3:30 PM; Auditorium; free

Showcasing Irish, African, hip-hop and house rhythms, these two "hoofing" dancers create unbelievable percussion with their feet.  Homage is paid to the virtuoso performers, King Rastus Brown, Bill Bojangles Robinson and John Bubbles, and students learn how to dance in their debonair footsteps by practicing the basic steps.  Related New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards: 1.1, 1.5, 3.4 and 6.4.
