A Letter from Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno

The Atlantic City Airshow celebrated its 15th Anniversary earlier this week.  This year’s event drew over 200,000 people to the beaches in Atlantic City, providing an estimated $26 million revenue infusion into the local economy.  Large events like these are important not only to the vibrancy of Atlantic City, but to the State’s overall economy, contributing to the tourism industry’s $44.1 billion economic impact, and the projected 100 million visitors who will visit New Jersey in 2017.

A special thanks to all the sponsors and hosts --- from Joe Kelly and the Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, to GEICO, to Sally Nickel and the Borgata, as well as the army of volunteers and robust community support for making the Airshow such a great success.  I would also like to extend thanks to Harry Hurley for the opportunity to join his radio show to highlight our State’s men and women in uniform.  Moreover, I was also proud to join Don Tretola and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on the eve of the Airshow in recognizing the Borgata with the Seven Seals Award for their unwavering support for our military.

As a Blue Star Mom, with a son currently flying F-16’s for the United States Air Force, I was proud of the impressive display of airmanship; from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team; to our own New Jersey State Police (A139 Flyby) and New Jersey National Guard (177th Fighter Wing’s F-16 Falcon; 108th Wing’s KC-135 Stratotankers).  Whether over the skies in Atlantic City or when we need them the most, our men and women in uniform always answer the call to serve, upholding the very virtues, freedoms and rights that each of us who lives in freedom enjoys every day.  At large events like the Atlantic City Airshow, or in moments of quiet reflection, we all stand in appreciation of a debt we can never fully repay.
