The Mission
Through promotion, coordination
and enhancement of citizen participation, the Governor's Office
of Volunteerism supports the growth and development of volunteer
organizations and activities throughout the State of New Jersey.
The Office serves as a statewide liaison between public, private,
local, state and national volunteer programs.
The Vision
The
Governor's Office of Volunteerism works diligently toward fulfilling
its mission, Connecting
Communities…Connecting People. The
Office aims to provide training, technical assistance,
promotion and recognition; as well as create greater
access to resources of the community and government.
Under the leadership of Secretary of State, Regena L.
Thomas, the office is committed to excellence and service.
The
Goal
The primary goal of the Office is to be a centralized
agency on volunteerism in the state and to provide
the opportunity, tools and support to New Jersey's citizens
so that they can participate and benefit from the
volunteer experience --the spirit of humanity. The Office supports
programs such as, early childhood literacy, disaster
and emergency response efforts, mentoring, volunteer
management and other volunteer initiatives, and serves
as a resource for all volunteer programs throughout
New Jersey.
