Trenton, NJ
– Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells today announced that the City of Trenton will provide free trolley transportation on Sunday, October 22, 2006 to and from South Riverwalk Park, the venue for New Jersey’s Statewide Cultural Festival in Trenton.

The free cultural festival will be held rain or shine from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the South Riverwalk Park, located above the Route 29 tunnel near Lamberton Street. Transportation will be provided to and from the beautiful park, overlooking the Delaware River from 12 noon to 5:45 p.m. The celebration will feature an array of music, food, art and crafts vendors, and more than 30 cultural performances.

Francis Blanco, Director of Recreation, Natural Resources and Culture for the City of Trenton, said the trolley will make its first stop at the Trenton Train Station, located on South Clinton and Barlow Avenues before proceeding to the light rail stop at the Sovereign Bank on Hamilton Avenue. The trolley service also will be available in front of the New Jersey State Museum and State House on West State Street and at the Katmandu entrance, located on Route 29 South.

“We’re excited to partner with the Department of State for this wonderful cultural festival,” said Blanco. “We welcome visitors to Trenton and hope our trolley service will provide them with a glimpse of our state capital,” she added.

Free parking also is available during the day at the south entrance tunnel of Route 29, and next to office buildings adjacent to the South RiverWalk Complex and Trenton Thunder baseball stadium as well as in the State Capital parking lot on Memorial Drive.
