New Jersey Flooding: What to do if you need help, if you want to contribute, or volunteer.
Several New Jersey counties have been severely affected by flooding and for many of our neighbors the recovery may require months of assistance. Here is how you can access or offer assistance:
2-1-1 - This phone number is the first point of contact for individuals or families that need assistance. 2-1-1 will connect you to the wide range of social services and volunteer placements in response agencies.
Contributions - The following agencies are actively involved in first response efforts, including rescue, shelter, and provision of food and supplies. Please consider a cash or gift card contribution. County service agencies have advised that they are not seeking clothing donations. If you would like to make a cash or gift card donation, please contact any of the agencies that are engaged in helping families affected by the flood:
The Salvation Army - New Jersey Division
- Credit card donations by telephone 908-851-8231 ( between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm)
- Checks made payable to The Salvation Army, PO Box 3170, 4 Gary Road, Union, NJ, 07083 (please designate for flood relief)
- Online donations at http://www.salvationarmynewjersey.org ( Click on donate and specify NJ Flood in the usage field)
- Gift cards are requested for Target, WalMart, Home Depot and Shop Rite
