Two Day Celebration to Feature Interactive Science Demonstrations, Exhibitions & Programs
Trenton, NJ – The 2007 New Jersey Super Science Festival Weekend returns to the State Capitol Complex on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the New Jersey State Museum, 205 West State Street, Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells announced. General admission to the two day event is free, with nominal fees for some activities.
Secretary Wells is encouraging New Jersey families to come out and enjoy this year's wide array of continuous science demonstrations, exhibitors, lectures and programs for participants of all ages. In addition, Mad Science of West Jersey will present "Up, Up and Away," an eye-popping demonstration exploring various scientific concepts in the State Museum Auditorium on Sunday, May 20 at 1 and 2 p.m. Information and tickets for all events will be available at the information booth outside the State Museum.
The annual Super Science Festival, sponsored in part by the Friends of the New Jersey State Museum, PSE&G, and the Trenton Thunder, will provide visitors with hands-on, fun filled activities that explore astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology and biology. Young children also will enjoy the Moon Bounce plus a variety of simple, but exciting activities such as making green slime with the American Chemical Society.
During the two day event, representatives from numerous scientific organizations, including the Delaware Valley Paleontological Society will be on hand to present its popular Fossil Dig sand box for children of all ages. The American Entomological Society will exhibit its fascinating collection of bugs.
A new exhibition, Plant Adaptations Up Close: A Biological and Artistic Interpretation, will open on Saturday in the Museum Galleries at 225 West State Street. In addition, the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators will offer continuous demonstrations for festival goers on both days in the Galleries.
In the State Museum's Auditorium, a series of free science lectures on topics ranging from digging up dinosaurs to the latest news on the exploration of the solar system will run on Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is as follows:

The New Jersey State Museum Auditorium galleries and Galleries at 225 West State Street, Trenton, NJ, are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, closed Sundays (open for Super Science Weekend!) and State holidays. Admission is free. Valid ID is required to enter the Galleries at 225 West State Street. On weekends, free parking is available in employee parking lots adjacent to and behind the Museum, and for Super Science Weekend, parking will be available in the Capital Complex Parking Garage which is accessible from West State Street and Route 29.
