WHO: Guests to include: Cory Booker, Mayor of Newark, Asaf Shariv, Consul General of Israel in New York, and Dr. Clifton Lacy, director, University Center for Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response. Participants will include trauma surgeon, Donald Jenkins, MD, Col. USAF (Ret), currently at the Mayo Clinic and former medical director of trauma for the US Central Command (Iraq and Afghanistan); Nancy Connell, PhD, director of UMDNJ Center for BioDefense; Tzipi Kahana, PhD, Division of Identification and Forensic Sciences, Israel Police at the National Centre of Forensic Medicine; Richard Cañas, director, NJ Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness.
WHAT: Coordinated by Dr. Leonard Cole, Division of Global Affairs, Rutgers University, the symposium will feature panels on psychological consequences of terror attacks, injury, as well as security issues, and incident management – all with the purpose of raising much-needed awareness of terror attack preparedness and security for hospitals, first responders, and all citizens
