TRENTON, NJ – On Thursday, July 27th, the Newark Black Film Festival Series in Trenton will feature the landmark documentary by Keith Beauchamp, The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till, a powerful and gripping tale that examines the murder of Emmett Louis Till and the subsequent trial of his murderers. It is an important film detailing historic moments for the American civil rights movement, as the events triggered a series of actions that would forever change the direction of our country.

Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells said she is very excited to welcome the film’s director Keith Beauchamp to Trenton along with journalist Kae Thompson Payne, who is featured in the second presentation, an Interview with Rosa Parks. This short piece promises to be an extraordinary experience and opportunity to hear Parks talk about the events that surrounded her historic protest, which ultimately sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycotts.
The event will be hosted by Giles Wright, Director of the African-American History Program for the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State, Dr. George Pruitt, President of Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, and the Reverend Darrell Armstrong, Pastor of Shiloah Baptist Church.
All screenings are free and open to the public. Tickets are available starting at 5 p.m. on the day of the screening at the New Jersey State Museum Auditorium. Seating for all screenings is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
