Office of the Public Defender (OPD)

Mission

The Office of the Public Defender provides a wide range of legal services to adults and children in New Jersey’s Supreme and Superior Courts. Our attorneys and support staff provide effective representation to indigent adults charged with crimes, indigent juveniles charged with delinquency offenses, indigent parents charged with child abuse and neglect or who are facing the loss of their parental rights, all abused and neglected children whether indigent or not, the mentally ill who are civilly committed and to persons seeking alternate dispute resolution services.
