Jack Lettiere named Commissioner of Transportation

“Over the past eleven months, this Administration has made improving New Jersey’s transportation infrastructure a top priority,” said McGreevey. “We have worked to fix EZPass and we are in the process of developing a plan to implement high-speed EZPass. We have tackled the Parsons debacle. And, we will be introducing legislation that will provide for a comprehensive overhaul of the DMV.”

“For nearly three decades, Jack Lettiere has helped build New Jersey’s modern transportation infrastructure,” said McGreevey. “His thorough and extensive knowledge of the Department of Transportation, combined with his support for this Administration’s vision, makes Jack a natural choice to serve as Transportation Commissioner.”

Lettiere has been with the Department for 28 years and was appointed Deputy Commissioner in February 2002. He previously served as Assistant Commissioner for Capital Investment and managed the Department’s $2.6 billion Capital Program since 1993.

Lettiere is a member of the national work group that is developing the framework for the reauthorization of the federal transportation act. He also has instituted numerous innovative financing techniques for complex transportation projects and chairs the nationally recognized Local Bridge Initiative Group.

Lettiere is a graduate of the General Motors Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He has a Masters of Business Administration from Rider University.
