NJDOT to resurface Route 9 in
Manalapan, Marlboro and Old Bridge

(Trenton)--Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface approximately six miles of Route 9 northbound in Manalapan and Marlboro townships in Monmouth County and Old Bridge in Middlesex County.

“Resurfacing this stretch of Route 9 will improve the roadway’s efficiency and provide relief from potholes and poor driving surfaces.”” noted Kolluri.

Beginning on Wednesday, June 25, NJDOT will resurface Route 9 northbound from north of Taylors Mills Road in Manalapan Township to north of Spring Valley Road in Old Bridge Township. The existing roadway is deteriorated and exhibits rutting, cracking and heavy potholes. NJDOT also will rehabilitate the sidewalks, driveways and inlets along this stretch of Route 9.

In order to minimize traffic impacts during construction, NJDOT will not implement permanent detours. A single lane of Route 9 northbound will close on Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. NJDOT is scheduled to complete the project in September 2008.

NJDOT will install variable message signs to inform motorists of traffic pattern changes. Real time traffic information is available on www.511nj.org or www.njcommuter.com.
