Route 52 paving activity detailed in Somers Point
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced a coordinated plan to finish the final surface paving and lane striping work this week on Route 52 (MacArthur Boulevard) between Mays Landing Road and Route 9 in Somers Point.
Today, April 2, NJDOT’s contractor is milling and leveling Route 52 in both directions between Braddock Drive and Mays Landing Road. One lane is maintained in each direction, utilizing traffic shifts.
On Tuesday, April 3, Route 52 southbound will be closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. to complete milling and final paving work on that side of the highway. Route 52 southbound motorists will be directed to Route 9 southbound to Mays Landing Road to Route 52.
On Wednesday, April 4, Route 52 northbound will be closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. to complete milling and final paving work on that side of the highway. Route 52 northbound motorists will be directed to Mays Landing Road to Route 9 northbound to Route 52.
On Thursday, April 5, the contractor will finish final paving work on the outside shoulders, with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction shifted to the center of the highway.
NJDOT developed the plan to accommodate the residential area by minimizing night work while maintaining access to businesses, located closer to the Causeway, during day work.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
