Emergency repair work closes eastbound
lane on Route 72 Manahawkin Bay Bridge

Motorists asked to plan trips
onto Long Beach Island accordingly

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the closure of a portion of the right-hand eastbound lane on the Route 72 Manahawkin Bay Bridge for emergency repairs to a hole in the bridge deck.

The hole is located just before Cedar Bonnet Island, approximately ¾ miles from Long Beach Island. NJDOT maintenance crews may be performing repairs through the rush hour this evening. Motorists heading to Long Beach Island should expect delays and plan their trips accordingly. Work is expected to be completed by midnight tonight and all lanes will be reopened.

Variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.  Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
