Use of Dredged Material
from Confined Disposal
Facilities Summit
On
September 3, 2009 the
New Jersey Department
of Transportation's Office
of Maritime Resources
(NJDOT/OMR) convened
a summit to
present research findings
on the characterization and
use of dredged sediments in
New Jersey’s
confined disposal facilities
(CDFs). The event was
attended by both outside
consultants, agencies
and internal NJDOT engineers,
planners and scientists.
The purpose was to present
the findings from over
a decade of experience
with beneficial use of
dredged materials statewide,
with an emphasis on materials
extracted from existing
CDFs. It was hoped
that this would stimulate
dialog and interest among
project and program managers,
engineers and consultants
who have need for aggregate
in highway and other
construction projects.
