Dredging Summit

2005

On October 6, 2005, The New Jersey Department of Transportation's Office of Maritime Resources (NJDOT/OMR) sponsored the 2nd Annual Dredged Material Management Summit, “Dredged Material: What to do with it?” at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ . Over 125, government and municipal officials, marine trades industry members, construction and economic development businesses, prospective users of dredged materials, academia, transportation representatives, and other interested organizations attended this year's event, which was hosted by the New Jersey Sea Grant Program.

The Summit brought together state and federal support to demonstrate that dredged material from non-port waterways can be sustainably managed and beneficially utilized using methods that are feasible, environmentally sound, and economically achievable. The audience gained a better understanding of the latest material management options and the challenges facing beneficial use. NJDOT/OMR supports innovative strategies to demonstrate and prove that relatively small (<100kcy) quantities of dredged material can be effectively and efficiently put to good use.

A list of all Summit speakers and contact information is available. Also, PowerPoint presentations and/or transcripts from the Summit proceedings are listed below.
