In 2007 NJDOT made emergency repairs at two locations ( m.p. 9.9 - 10.1 and m.p. 21.2 - 21.4) along Rt. 29 to maintain the stability and integrity of the roadway. As a temporary repair, NJDOT installed rock filled gabion baskets in the margin of the Delaware & Raritan Canal at both locations. A permanent solution is needed to permanently stabilize the slope and address drainage issues in a manner which is compatible with the historic nature and use of the area.
