Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 166
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 166 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Ocean County:
i. In the Borough of Beachwood:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between Route US 9 and the Beachwood Borough - South Toms River Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.47); thence
ii. In the Borough of South Toms River:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the Beachwood Borough - South Toms River Borough corporate line and the South Toms River Borough - Toms River Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.47 to 1.13); thence
iii. In the Township of Toms River (formerly Dover Township):
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 25 MPH between the South Toms River Borough - Toms River Township corporate line and Walton Street (approximate mileposts 1.13 to 1.45); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between Walton Street and 600 feet north of Old Freehold Road (County Route 623), except for 25 MPH when passing through the Ambassador Christian Academy School Zone, during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 1.45 to 2.22); thence
(C) Zone 3: 45 MPH between 600 feet north of Old Freehold Road (County Route 623) and Colonial Road (approximate mileposts 2.22 to 3.27); thence
(D) Zone 4: 40 MPH between Colonial Road and 1,000 feet north of Hill Top Road (approximate mileposts 3.27 to 3.42); thence
(E) Zone 5: 45 MPH between 1,100 feet north of Hill Top Road and the northernmost intersection of Route US 9 (approximate mileposts 3.42 to 3.73).
