Traffic Regulations

(a)

The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 17 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:

1.

In Bergen County:

NOTE: State Highway Route NJ 17 is coincident with State Highway Route I-287 from approximate mileposts 26.81 to 27.20.

i. In the Borough of North Arlington:

(1)

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Route NJ 7 and Arlington Boulevard, except for the 25 MPH school speed limit when passing through the Queen of Peace Church School and the North Arlington High School zones, when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.60); thence

(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between Arlington Boulevard and the North Arlington Borough-Lyndhurst Township corporate line (Union Avenue) (approximate mileposts 0.60 to 1.36); thence

ii. In the Township of Lyndhurst:

(1)

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the North Arlington Borough-Lyndhurst Township corporate line (Union Avenue) and the Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Rutherford Avenue), except for the 25 MPH school speed limit when passing through the Lincoln School, Washington School and the Saint Michael's School zones when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 1.36 to 2.71); thence

(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between the southernmost Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Polito Avenue) and the northernmost Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 3.34 to 3.82); thence

For the northbound direction of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Rutherford Avenue) and the southernmost Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Polito Avenue) (approximate mileposts 2.71 to 3.34); thence

iii. In the Borough of Rutherford:

For the southbound direction of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Rutherford Avenue) and the southernmost Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line (Polito Avenue) (approximate mileposts 2.71 to 3.34); thence

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the northernmost Lyndhurst Township-Rutherford Borough corporate line and North Service Road (approximate mileposts 3.82 to 4.23); thence

(B) Zone 2: 50 MPH between North Service Road and the Rutherford Borough-East Rutherford Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 4.23 to 4.95); thence

iv. In the Borough of East Rutherford:

viii. In the City of Hackensack:

(B) Zone 2: 55 MPH between the Upper Saddle River Borough-Ramsey Borough corporate line and the southernmost Ramsey Borough-Upper Saddle River Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 22.05 to 22.30); thence

(C) Zone 3: 55 MPH between the northernmost Upper Saddle River Borough-Ramsey Borough corporate line (East Crescent Avenue/County Route 81) and the Ramsey Borough-Mahwah Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 22.56 to 24.35); thence

xix. In the Borough of Upper Saddle River:

(B) Zone 2: 55 MPH between the southernmost Ramsey Borough-Upper Saddle River Borough corporate line and the northernmost Upper Saddle River Borough-Ramsey Borough corporate line (East Crescent Avenue/County Route 81) (approximate mileposts 22.30 to 22.56); thence

xx. In the Township of Mahwah:

(A) Zone 1: 55 MPH between the Ramsey Borough-Mahwah Township corporate line and the northernmost ramp to I-287 (approximate mileposts 24.35 to 26.81); thence
