Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 34
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 34 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Monmouth County:
NOTE: State Highway Route NJ 34 is coincident with State Highway Route NJ 33 from approximate mileposts 7.72 to 8.76.
i. In the Township of Wall:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 55 MPH between the intersection of Routes NJ 34-NJ 35 and NJ 70  and the Route NJ 33 and Route NJ 34 traffic circle (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 7.72); thence
ii. In the Township of Howell:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
NOTE: Route NJ 34 is coincident with Route NJ 33 (approximate mileposts 35.21 to 36.28) from approximate mileposts 7.72 to 8.76.  See Route NJ 33 for speed limit in this section; thence
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the end of coincidence with Route NJ 33 and the Howell Township – Colts Neck Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 8.76 to 10.71); thence
iii. In the Township of Colts Neck:
(1) For both directions of traffic
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Howell Township-Colts Neck Township corporate line and 1,150 feet north of Route NJ 18 (approximate mileposts 10.71 to 12.49); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 1,150 feet north of Route NJ 18 and 400 feet north of Artisan Way (approximate mileposts 12.49 to 13.75); thence
(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between 400 feet north of Artisan Way and the Colts Neck Township-Holmdel Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 13.75 to 17.37); thence
iv. In the Township of Holmdel:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Colts Neck Township – Holmdel Township corporate line and the Holmdel Township – Marlboro Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 17.37 to 19.67); thence
v. In the Township of Marlboro:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Holmdel Township – Marlboro Township corporate line and the Marlboro Township – Aberdeen Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 19.67 to 20.44); thence
vi. In the Township of Aberdeen:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Marlboro Township-Aberdeen Township corporate line and a point 500 feet south of Randall Way (approximate milepost 20.44 to 20.53); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between a point 500 feet south of Randall Way and Van Brackle Road (approximate milepost 20.53 to 21.19); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between Van Brackle Road and the Aberdeen Township – Matawan Borough southerly corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.19 to 21.70); thence
(2) For the northbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Aberdeen Township – Matawan Borough southerly corporate line and the Aberdeen Township – Matawan Borough northerly corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.70 to 22.27); thence
vii. In the Borough of Matawan:
(1) For the southbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Aberdeen Township-Matawan Borough southerly corporate line and the Aberdeen Township – Matawan Borough northerly corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.70 to 22.27); thence
(2) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the Aberdeen Township – Matawan Borough northerly corporate line and Edgewater Drive (approximate mileposts 22.27 to 22.85); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Edgewater Drive and Fierro Avenue (approximate mileposts 22.85 to 23.08); thence
(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between Fierro Avenue and the Matawan Borough – Old Bridge Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 23.08 to 23.28); thence
2. In Middlesex County:
i. In the Township of Old Bridge:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Old Bridge Township - Matawan Borough corporate line and Spring Hill Road except 35 MPH in the Whited Brown School zone during recess or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (mileposts 23.28 to 26.08); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between Spring Hill Road and Route US 9 (approximate mileposts 26.08 to 26.79).
