Improvements
The existing bridge is in need of a major rehabilitation that is estimated to have a construction cost of more than $1 billion. The New Jersey Department of Transportation has completed the necessary short term repairs to keep the bridge functional. Short term repairs were performed on critically deteriorated areas, while the long term rehabilitation was prioritized, sequenced and funded.
