Land Use and Transportation Plan

Community Outreach

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) seeks to develop a comprehensive corridor preservation program for 21 miles of Route 57 between Phillipsburg and Hackettstown in Warren County.

This program would build upon the ongoing efforts by NJDOT and other state agencies to promote a capacity-conserving, smart growth approach to future development in the corridor. In support of this initiative, NJDOT is involving key stakeholders and the public throughout the project process.

Key Stakeholders Group

A Key Stakeholders Group (KSG) will be formed to guide the study process and help ensure effective outreach to residents in each community. The KSG will participate in a series of community workshops to develop the regional corridor preservation program. It will also provide guidance and feedback as appropriate on the subarea plans and implementation strategies.

The project team will hold meetings, make contacts and do research to identify candidates to be invited to participate in the KSG. Private citizens, advocates and public and elected officials will be contacted and interviewed to identify appropriate candidates.

The team will also develop resource materials to be used to recruit candidates and to inform study participants of the goals of the study and the process throughout the corridor preservation program.
