do any of these activities while spending Valentine's Day in a country
inn or Bed and Breakfast, whose owners are always happy to provide that
special touch to make guests more memorable. Many of these inns are beautifully
restored historic homes with antique furnishings, some on large estates,
with Jacuzzis, swimming pools."
With Valentines Day falling on Friday this year, many
B&Bs are offering special "romantic weekends." For instance,
Chimney Hill Farm Estate (Lambertville) offers a spa package with dinner,
a visit to Sand Castle Vineyard, a chilled bottle of champagne, and souvenir
champagne flutes. Whistling Swan (Stanhope) offers a Be Mine package, with
two nights' accommodations, flowers, bottle of champagne or sparkling cider
and either a dozen chocolate covered strawberries or gourmet chocolates.
Pillars (Plainfield) offers special dinner, massage for 2 and special remembrance
gifts. Avon Manor (Avon by the Sea) offers an herbal bath package for your
Jacuzzi; Beacon House (Sea Girt) offers a Sweetheart Package with a basket
of fruit, cheese, chocolate and champagne and heart-shaped muffins for
breakfast. Sandy Hook Cottage (Highlands) offers spa services, dinner at
an area restaurant, champagne and basket with fresh flowers. Julia's of
Savannah (Long Beach Island) offers champagne and truffles on arrival and
dinner at Raimondo's. Sandpiper (Spring Lake) is putting wine or flowers
in your room. Many area restaurants and spas have separate Valentine's
Day specials.

"America the beautiful-only smaller," New
