WINGS ‘N WATER FESTIVAL CELEBRATES
NEW JERSEY’S ENVIRONMENTAL BEAUTY

Premier Wildlife Arts Festival Takes Place
Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14

Stone Harbor, N.J. (August 21, 2003)—The 21st annual Wings ‘n Water Festival will bring together expert wildlife carvers, top art shows, unique nature tours and abundant children’s activities for a weekend celebration of New Jersey’s splendid natural environment. The festivities kick off with an auction and cocktail party on Friday, September 12, leading into one of the premier Wildlife Arts Festivals in the United States on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor.

Special to the Wings ‘n Water Festival is the decorative wildlife carving, fish carving and decoy show, where more than 50 of the nation’s most talented carvers compete for more than $7,500 in prize money.

The festival will also offer activities for people of all ages and interests, including guided bird walks, boat cruises, kayaking and Labrador retriever demonstrations. For children, there will be hands-on exhibits and crafts. The event will also feature a diverse art show containing fine crafts, watercolor paintings, scenic photography and wildlife and maritime art.

“By spotlighting New Jersey’s rich diversity of wildlife, the annual festival helps our state communicate the importance of preserving its wetlands,” said Nancy Byrne, executive director of New Jersey Commerce’s Office of Travel and Tourism. “The Wings ‘n Water Festival educates visitors by mixing activities and entertainment with a deep appreciation for our surrounding coastal ecosystem.”

A single ticket covers admission to the festival for both Saturday and Sunday. Advance-sale tickets for the festival are available at a reduced rate through September 1. Adult admission tickets at the gate are $10 and $4 for children ages 4 to 12. Ticket information for all activities, including the opening cocktail party, is available by calling (609) 368-1211 or on line by visiting www.wetlandsinstitute.org/wnw.html.
