NEW JERSEY CONFERENCE CENTERS & CASINOS SHINE
IN MEETING NEWS ’PLANNERS’ CHOICE AWARDS’

Trenton, N.J. (January 7, 2004)Conference centers and gaming resorts took top spots in the 2003 Meeting News “Planners’ Choice” awards, featured in the December issue of the magazine. The awards were based on nominations from more than 60,000 meeting planners nationwide. Criteria included helpfulness and expertise of hotel and meeting service staff; quality of facilities; quality of accommodations; quality of food and beverage or restaurants; overall ambiance; variety and quality of recreational activities.

In the Conference Center category, of 27 winning entries, four were in New Jersey; only Virginia had more, with five. Winners were Dolce Hamilton Park, Florham Park; Doral Forrestal Conference Center & Spa, Princeton; Merrill Lynch Conference & Training Center, Princeton; and Ocean Conference Resort, Long Branch.

“The awards certainly enhance our state’s prestige as a meeting destination,” says Nancy Byrne, executive director of New Jersey Office of Travel & Tourism. “Our office is very proud of these awards and recognizes the hard work done to accomplish them.”

In the Gaming Resort category, of 18 winning entries, two were in New Jersey, topped only by Las Vegas, with 11. Winners were Caesars Atlantic City and Tropicana Casino and Resort, both in Atlantic City.
