| DISCOVER THE ROMANCE
OF WINTER ON THE DELAWARE DURING LAMBERTVILLE-NEW HOPE
WINTER FESTIVAL 2004
Trenton, N.J. (January 28, 2004)—The
Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival livens up the snowy hills on both
sides of the Delaware River with an array of cold-weather activities encompassing
a parade, concerts, band competitions, ice carvings, songfests, walking-,
museum-, art gallery- and antique-tours, restaurant tastings, a chili cook-off
and lots more for grown ups and kids alike. This eighth annual three-day
festival runs from Friday, Feb 6 to Sunday, Feb 8, 2004.
“During this festival, you can almost relive the
early 1700s, when Lambertville was a small ferry landing for pioneers crossing
the river to the frontier,” says Nancy Byrne, executive director,
New Jersey Office of Travel & Tourism. “Strolling the streets
on a winter afternoon, visitors can see how carefully Lambertville has
preserved its past while adding the best of modern amenities.”
The festival schedule kicks off with a gala reception
and concert on Friday, Feb 6, at
6 pm. Tickets must be pre-purchased, at $60 and include hors d’oeuvres,
live cooking tables, beverages and dessert along with VIP seating at the
8 pm concert. The concert features Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul. Ivers,
the musical star in the mega hit Riverdance, is the nine-time all-Ireland
fiddler champion and is noted as a great innovator in Celtic music.
One of the most popular exhibits is the Village SnowFolk.
These are created from basic life-size cutouts of snowmen, embellished
to express characters in history, traditional snowmen and free-form expressions,
then entered into a competition from which winners are selected in adult
and children’s categories. More than 60 of these creations are on
view this year, both at St John’s School and in storefronts throughout
Lambertville and New Hope, Pa. from January 25 through February 15.
“This is a weekend that’s not only upbeat
and fun, but also shows that all the shops, galleries and restaurants so
popular during spring, summer and fall are going full blast in winter with
an even cozier ambience, ” says Rose DiMarco, partner in the Inn
at Lambertville Station and a festival organizer. “Several bed and
breakfasts offer open-house tours and special weekend rates.”
