Trenton, N.J. (June 21, 2004)—From
Tall Ships on the Camden Waterfront to the crackle and kaboom of fireworks
along the Jersey Shore, July 4th celebrations are a blast in the Garden
State.
“New Jersey is known as the Crossroads of the
American Revolution,” said Nancy Byrne, executive director of the
NJ Office of Travel & Tourism. “What better way to observe our
role in history than by enjoying festivities that commemorate the quest
for freedom and independence.”
Here's a brief roundup of things to do.
Down the Shore:
July 1-3: Allentown, Allentown Freedom Festival. Rides,
games, food and fireworks on the Allentown school grounds off 539. For

July 2: Atlantic Highlands, Fireworks. At the Municipal

July 4: North Wildwood, Independence Day Parade. Noontime

July 4: Ocean City, 4th of July Festivities: Kite flying

July 4: Stone Harbor, Independence Day Celebration:
In cooperation with the Stone Harbor Recreation Department, a day fun is
planned for kids of all ages followed by a fireworks spectacular at night,

July 4: Bridgewater, Fourth of July at Middlebrook Encampment.
Site of two encampments of Washington’s Continental Army. Includes
changing of the 13-star flag and historical address. For more information

July 4: Bridgewater, Fourth of July Family Festival
at North Branch Park. The Elvis Show and the Soul Survivors, children’s
entertainment, historical reenactments, and fireworks. In the event of

July 4: New Brunswick, Annual Independence Day Celebration.
Festivities take place in Boyd Park with a fireworks display on the banks
of the Old Raritan. The Rutgers Percussion Ensemble will perform from 7:30
