NEW JERSEY'S HIDDEN TREASURES

Trenton, NJ (March 8, 2006) —While the Garden State is best known for its beaches and boardwalks, visitors can discover enjoyable journeys off the beaten path in the new 2006 edition of the New Jersey Travel Guide, introduced by the NJ Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission today. From authentic historical reenactments at Revolutionary War sites across the state to Thomas Edison’s home and laboratories or an eclectic sculpture garden in the middle of an industrial park, the state is full of pleasant surprises. With the help of new sections including, “Coastal Heritage Trail,” “Cycling & Hiking Trails” and “Just for Kids,” the guide encourages visitors to discover one-of-kind attractions throughout the entire state.

“New Jersey is filled with exciting adventures waiting to be found by both the seasoned traveler and the first time visitor to the state,” said Nancy Byrne, executive director of New Jersey Office of Travel & Tourism. “This year, we are proud to offer a guide that highlights a variety of excursions on the road less traveled to help visitors have an unforgettable, unexpected experience in New Jersey.”

From a visit to Washington’s Headquarters to sampling at a chowder fest to hitting the slopes to camping under the stars, the 2006 New Jersey Travel Guide is a comprehensive resource of accommodations, restaurants, attractions, transportation and events for both business and pleasure in an easy to understand format. The guide is sectioned by the state’s six regions (Delaware River, Gateway, Greater Atlantic City, Shore, Skylands and Southern Shore) offering suggested places of interest and premier events within those areas.

Bauer, CEO & Secretary of the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth & Tourism Commission. “Furthermore, it supports over 430,000 jobs, generates over $12.3 billion in wages and brings in more than $3 billion in tax revenues to the State each year proving it is a vital contributor to our State’s economy.”
