Trenton, NJ (March 8, 2006) —While
the Garden State is best known for its beaches and boardwalks, visitors
can discover enjoyable journeys off the beaten path in the new 2006
edition of the New Jersey Travel Guide, introduced by the NJ Commerce,
Economic Growth and Tourism Commission today. From authentic historical
reenactments at Revolutionary War sites across the state to Thomas
Edison’s home and laboratories or an eclectic sculpture garden
in the middle of an industrial park, the state is full of pleasant
surprises. With the help of new sections including, “Coastal
Heritage Trail,” “Cycling & Hiking Trails”
and “Just for Kids,” the guide encourages visitors to
discover one-of-kind attractions throughout the entire state.
“New Jersey is filled with exciting adventures
waiting to be found by both the seasoned traveler and the first
time visitor to the state,” said Nancy Byrne, executive director
of New Jersey Office of Travel & Tourism. “This year,
we are proud to offer a guide that highlights a variety of excursions
on the road less traveled to help visitors have an unforgettable,
unexpected experience in New Jersey.”
From a visit to Washington’s Headquarters
to sampling at a chowder fest to hitting the slopes to camping under
the stars, the 2006 New Jersey Travel Guide is a comprehensive resource
of accommodations, restaurants, attractions, transportation and
events for both business and pleasure in an easy to understand format.
The guide is sectioned by the state’s six regions (Delaware
River, Gateway, Greater Atlantic City, Shore, Skylands and Southern
Shore) offering suggested places of interest and premier events
within those areas.
