Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship
Program Trenton—Project proposals for the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth & Tourism Commission's 2007 Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship Program are now being accepted. "Promoting the state's $36 billion tourism industry is one of our primary responsibilities," said Commerce Secretary Virginia S. Bauer. "We have found that providing assistance through the Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship Program is an effective way in which to partner with many of the industry's smaller entities and groups to help market their events and activities." The Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship Program has a budget of $1.85 million; $1.2 million is appropriated for the Regional Council Marketing Program and the remaining $685,000 is available for smaller travel organizations, destinations, and attractions. Eligible projects will be reviewed and selected by the Commission's Office of Travel & Tourism and the Office of Marketing on a rolling basis, with a matching requirement of 25 cents for every dollar awarded. The awarded Cooperative Marketing Sponsorships range from $500 to $100,000. Most sponsorship awards fall into the $20,000-$30,000 range. A combination of criteria will determine approval of the sponsorship awards, such as the applicant's significant interest in the promotion of a tourist destination, attraction or activity, as well as the ability of the program or event to promote the Office of Travel and Tourism to broad audiences or targeted markets, including cultural, historic and ethnic. “We're pleased the Cooperative Marketing Sponsorship Program has been so successful in providing opportunities to tourism organizations to innovatively promote New Jersey's diverse array of tourism products," said Nancy Byrne, Executive Director of the Office of Travel & Tourism. "By doing so, we ultimately help to increase visitation and generate revenues within our tourism communities."
