Festa dell’ Arte Celebrates
a Weekend of
Italian and Italian-American Arts & Culture at Wheaton Village
Trenton—The Down Jersey Folklife
Center at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville hosts Festa dell’
Arte – a celebration of Italian and Italian-American arts and culture
September 15 – 17, 2006.
“Festa dell’ Arte is a great way to honor and
enjoy Italy’s vibrant cultural contributions,” said Nancy Byrne,
Executive Director of the New Jersey Office of Travel & Tourism. “Visitors
are sure to discover an exciting festival full of music, unique demonstrations
and assorted workshops.”
The weekend begins on Friday, September 15 with a regional
conference entitled, “Communities and Identities” for pre-registration
attendees only. The theme for Saturday, September 16, “Regional Diversity
of Italian and Italian-American Culture,” features a day of special
demonstrations and workshops by over 100 local artists and guest artists
from Italy. Special concerts are also scheduled to take place.
For Sunday, September 17m the theme is “Italian Arts
and Culture from the Medieval Times and Renaissance,” featuring:
a procession, slide show, puppet show, Italian Renaissance Wedding Performance
(15th century Venice) including a human chess match, music by Bhakali Branslers
Band of South Jersey, 15th century madrigals and other music performances.
Festa activities included in the price of admission.
Admission costs for Saturday and Sunday’s festivities
are as follows: Adults - $10, Seniors - $9, Students - $7 and children

Festa Dell’Arte is the recipient of a New Jersey
Tourism Cooperative Marketing Grant. The Cooperative Marketing Grant Program
