New Jersey's Sentinels of the Sea

New Jersey's majestic lighthouses have guarded mariners sailing the Atlantic Ocean and intercoastal waterways for more than a century. These silent sentinels of the sea are an important part of New Jersey's maritime history.

New Jersey boasts some of the oldest and historically noteworthy lighthouses in the country including, Sandy Hook, the oldest operating lighthouse in America.

The state's 11 lighthouses, that are open to the public, are located in some of the most beautiful areas of the state. Hours of operation and admission fees, if any, vary by lighthouse. Call ahead for details and directions.
