About Your Personal Benefit Statement

The Division of Pensions and Benefits provides a Personal Benefit Statement for active members of the State-administered retirement systems.

Your Personal Benefit Statement and Retirement Planning

Your Personal Benefit Statement is a useful tool in planning for your retirement. It is helpful, however, to think of the statement as a "snapshot" of your estimated benefits and not as a final calculation. This is because the statement's estimate program differs from the program used to calculate your actual retirement.

The Personal Benefit Statement uses the salary reported by your employer for the quarter preceding the statement date to project your annual salary, rather than the one, three, or five year average salary used when you retire.

If you are within two years of retirement, you can:

  • call our Automated Information System at (609) 292-7524 to hear a retirement estimate over the phone

Not Seeing the Personal Benefit Statement Button?

If an employee did not contribute to the retirement system for any period of time in the three months preceding the statement date — or changed employers within that time period — a Personal Benefit Statement cannot be provided for that employee. If this is the case, you may contact the Division of Pensions and Benefits to request a Statement of Account letter, and will have access to the online Personal Benefit Statement button as of the next full quarter of payroll reported to, and posted by, the Division.

In addition, if the employing location did not submit the quarterly Report of Contributions (ROC) by the cut off date, all employees for that employing location will not see the Personal Benefits Statements button for that quarter.
