Businesses often use a different
name from the formal registration name when doing business. These
"other names" are called alternate, fictitious, or 'doing business
as' names for corporations. Individuals and proprietorships will use
a 'trading as' name for the business.
You may browse the business
trade names online free of charge. If you prefer, you may request
the search by letter but there is a fee of $1.00 per name for written
and requests made in person. Copies may also be obtained at the county where the tradename was filed.
In addition, a status
report for the business may be ordered online
or in writing for a fee of $5.00 per report.
