POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, or, a designated Senior Project Engineer, supervises or assists in supervising the various engineering and administrative activities of the Engineering Department's Construction Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Registration as Professional Engineer in New Jersey is preferred.
  3. Seven (7) or more years of professional engineering experience preferably containing a mix of highway, structures, buildings, drainage, site, utilities and pavement design: contract document preparation, and construction supervision relating to various types of civil engineering projects, including at lease four (4) or more years in responsible charge.
  4. Excellent verbal arid written communications skills.
  5. Possesses a valid Driver's License.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In concert with the Supervising Engineer, or, a designated Senior Project Engineer, develops strategies for accomplishing the Construction Division's project objectives. All classifications of constructiori supervision work performed by the Authority's Engineering Department may be included in the projects assigned to the Construction Division, with the emphasis on construction supervision of Highways, Bridges arid Buildings facilities.
  2. Functions as the Project Engineer for several projects which are underway concurrently.
  3. Works in accordance with standards/policies set forth in the Authority's Manual for Construction, Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, Design Manual and Design Standard Drawings.
  4. Directs and manages the efforts of consulting engineers and subordinate members of the Construction Pivision associated with construction supervision.
  5. Prepares budgets, estimates, plans, specifications, agenda. information, agreements, and other administrative matters, as may be required to provide total project management of Construction Division projects.
  6. Prepares requests for Expressions of Interest, Technical and Fee Proposals, reviews Proposals and recommends selection of consulting engineers.
  7. Represents the Supervising Engineer or, a designated Senior Project Engineer in their absence and performs related duties ..

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:

Maintains a cooperative working relationship with consulting engineers, outside agencies, superiors and others in the Engineering Department and throughout the Turnpike organization, Displays a flexible and adaptable attitude. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, good work ethics and team spirit, thuS, contributes positively to the Engineering Department's overall performance.

Internal Audit - Auditor

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Plan and conduct all phases of an audit project under general direction of supervisory staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Determines the nature of operations and evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control system.
  • Plans the objective scope of the audit; prepares an audit program with recommended procedures to be used.
  • Prepares working papers in accordance with department standards, documenting results of the audit examination.
  • Discusses all audit findings and recommendations with management during and at the conclusion of the examination.
  • Prepares formal written reports outlining findings and recommendations and expressing an opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in public or private auditing field. Must have knowledge of accounting and auditing principles/standards.
  • Requires analytical and interviewing skills with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively interact with all levels of personnel and have computer skills. Valid driver’s license.

Engineering - Project Engineer Construction

ITS - AIX / HP-UX System Administrator

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Works under the general direction of the Manager of Technical Services to ensure the functionality, stability, security, and expandability of the Agency’s AIX, HP-UX, and Redhat LINUX server environment to meet with the Agency’s goals and requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Install, monitor and manage AIX, HP-UX, and Redhat LINUX server infrastructure.
  2. Perform capacity planning and performance tuning through approved change management mechanisms.
  3. Resolve problems referred by user community.
  4. Perform software and hardware upgrades.
  5. Maintain accurate documentation.
  6. Interface with other departmental sections to ensure proper operation of entire Agency computing infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:

Has responsibility for maintaining harmonious working relationships with this and other departments and individuals in the Agency’s organization necessary for obtaining the objectives of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  6. Extensive knowledge of paging/swapping, inter-process communication, job scheduling, file system concepts like inode and superblock.
  7. Extensive knowledge of architecture design.
  8. Extensive knowledge of LUN resizing and migration..
  9. Extensive knowledge of Virtual Server Environment, LPAR, DLPAR, and VPAR.
  10. Working knowledge of Cisco MDS switches.
  11. Ability to write detailed shell scripts.
  12. Ability to perform debugging and modification of C programs.
  13. Ability to perform security audits and protect the system against intrusion.
  14. Working knowledge of LANs, WANs, networking principles and protocols.

  2. Ensures reliability and availability of the voice, video, radio and data network.
  3. Coordinates analysis and stability of the network through creation of policies and best practices.
  4. Proactively assists in defining direction for future technology, infrastructure, and architecture projects.
  5. Interfaces with both internal and external network users to recommend appropriate courses of action with respect to technical and infrastructure issues

  9. Extensive knowledge of Cisco Communications Manager, Unity Connection, Contact Center Express, and Presence Server.
  10. Working knowledge of Cisco UCS.
  11. Knowledge of Cisco ASA.
  12. Experienced in documenting network design and implementation.

Internships

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority offers law students the opportunity to serve as volunteer/unpaid interns in the Law Department during fall or spring semesters or during summer. The Law Department regularly addresses an array of legal issues involving public procurement; administrative law; real estate, contract and environmental law; and litigation. If accepted into the program, students will perform law clerk responsibilities, including legal research and writing, and will have the opportunity to observe a range of lawyering activity. Students participating in the program may also have the opportunity to attend court proceedings, meetings, depositions, and other special events.
