Speed Reduction

As part of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's Safety Program
beginning March 1st, 2008 the speed limit between
Mileposts 80 and 100 on the Garden State Parkway
will be reduced to 55mph.



In addition, motorists should be aware that effective March 1st
an amended law makes the use of a wireless hand-held
telephone or electronic communication device by the operator
of a moving motor vehicle a primary offense.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority Widening Projects

New Jersey Turnpike Authority has proposed the widening of the
Turnpike between Interchange 6 in Mansfield Township, Burlington County
and Interchange 9 in East Brunswick Township,Middlesex County
and the Garden State Parkway between Interchange 80
in Toms River and Interchange 30 in Somers Point.

Hybrid Vehicles
Will be Allowed to Travel in the HOV Lanes On the Turnpike
Governor Jon S. Corzine and The New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced
on April 27, 2006 that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority will be allowing Hybrid vehicles to travel in the Turnpike’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes. HOV lanes are located on the Turnpike north- and south-bound between Interchange 11 in Woodbridge and Interchange 14 in Newark and operate on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. northbound and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. southbound
