High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV) Lanes

What is an HOV lane? The Turnpike has designated lanes for vehicles carrying 3 or more people. These are the far left lanes of the outer roadway or truck lanes. These lanes are marked by a diamond on the pavement of the roadway.

Locations: Between Interchange 11 in Woodbridge and Interchange 14 in Newark, both northbound and southbound.

Times: NORTHBOUND - Weekdays 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
SOUTHBOUND - Weekdays 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Requirements: Open to buses and motorcycles regardless of number of passengers, and passenger cars carrying three (3) or more people.
