Tremley Point Connector Road Project

INTRODUCTION

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (Authority) is planning the construction of a new four-lane, predominantly pile-supported, approximately 1.1 mile long roadway/bridge, designated as the Tremley Point Connector Road (TPCR). The proposed TPCR will intersect with Industrial Highway in Carteret, Middlesex County, traverse the Rahway River and connect at Tremley Point Road in the City of Linden, Union County, New Jersey. The TPCR is intended to provide direct access between NewJersey Turnpike Interchange 12 via Industrial Highway and the Tremley Point area of Linden.

The TPCR will require Federal Permits from both the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The U.S. Coast Guard has been designated the lead Federal Agency for the TPCR. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), 40 U.S. C. 1500-1508, the U.S. Coast Guard has required the preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the TPCR and is now issuing this EA for public review and comment.
