MISSION

To broaden New Jersey’s economic base by creating jobs, providing customers with the necessary financial and technical support to grow their businesses, and renewing communities.

VISION

To be the leading economic development organization in New Jersey supporting the achievement of a vibrant state economy and smart growth land use development.

A RESOURCE FOR ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) is a self-supporting, independent state agency whose purpose is to help strengthen and expand New Jersey’s economy. The EDA works closely with numerous banks, private investors, underwriters and other sources of capital to stimulate business development, job creation and community revitalization throughout the state.

The EDA's diverse programs assist businesses from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies as well as nonprofit organizations and municipalities. These programs provide low-interest financing that is used to acquire and renovate buildings, purchase equipment and machinery, develop products and fund other operational expenses, and incentives to encourage business relocation and expansion.

The EDA also offers real estate development assistance to advance major projects and modern technology facilities as well as technical support and entrepreneurial training to spur economic growth. Since it was founded in 1974, the EDA has arranged more than $16 billion in financing assistance for more than 8,000 businesses, nonprofits and other entities.

Assistance available through the EDA includes:

  • Low-interest financing for businesses, nonprofits and municipalities through loans, loan guarantees and bonds
  • Grants for business attraction and expansion
  • Urban and smart growth redevelopment funding
  • Grants and loans for brownfields investment and cleanup.
  • Entrepreneurial training
  • Real estate development services to advance major projects and modern technology facilities.
