MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a competent, diverse and productive government workforce for the citizens of New Jersey. Through human resource expertise and merit protection, we will create and support an integrated human resource management system and policies to meet the ever-changing needs of state and local government and its employees.

Those interested in wishing employment with state government agencies are encouraged to begin their search with information available at their public library.

URBAN MISSION STATEMENT

The Department of Personnel supports the Governor’s Urban Initiative by providing technical assistance to municipal government agencies upon request regarding recruitment, selection, and training. Through links to UCC municipalities, our in-house Customer Service Team Consultants can develop a real understanding of the unique circumstances and employment needs and create personnel programs to meet the needs of urban communities. The Department of Personnel encourages residents of urban communities to apply for positions in state, county, and municipal government via local libraries, State employment Offices, and by calling our Job Vacancy Hotline at (609) 777-0916. Job vacancies are broadcasted week nights at 6:27 pm on the New Jersey Channel (NJN).
