Learn How Our Agricultural Education Sessions Increase the Understanding of Your World
Experience farming first-hand from the fourth generation of farmers in the Johnson family. See what it takes to plant, nurture, harvest and enjoy Burlington County's finest fruits and vegetables. The Johnson farm offers an array of agricultural education sessions throughout the year. Spring gets off to a fun start with their Spring Egg Hunt Hayride, where students can test their motor skills. Next is the Down and Dirty, Great and Grungy Greenhouse educational session. Along with the hayride, the students return to the greenhouse classroom to plant seeds and learn how to care for them. Strawberry-picking season is a favorite activity for students and teachers alike. Summertime brings the harvest of New Jersey's famous sweet corn and peaches. The peach and corn-picking summer educational session runs through July and August, making this the perfect hands-on educational experience for summer schools and camps. Begin your school year with their Picking Hayride to the Apple Orchards. The orchards provide a great classroom for understanding the production and culture of this very important fruit. Come fall, what could be more fun and educational than the Pumpkin Picking session? Sunflowers abound to enhance this popular visit on the farm. November offers their Peanut, Popcorn and Cotton Picking educational session. After the hayride, where the students will experience corn shelling and cider pressing, they also have an opportunity to taste pasteurized cider. Johnson Farm ends the year on a festive note with their Holiday Swag Making session during December. Experience the fun of taking a winter hayride to learn about different evergreens. Back inside the heated greenhouse, the students learn about decorating with evergreens while creating their own swag. The greens are tied up with a red velvet bow to take home for the student's special person.
