There
is More to a Turkey Farm Than Meets the Eye
Since 1964, Lee Turkey Farm has welcomed students to their
farm to learn about agriculture. It is comprised of 54 acres
nestled in the arms of suburbia, and has been farmed for six
generations since 1868. Ronny Lee, a graduate of the N.J.
Agricultural Leadership & Development Program, will be your
premier agricultural education session guide. He was also
name N.J.'s Outstanding Young Farmer in 1995, and was chosen
as a Master Farmer in 2001. Lee Turkey Farm has an array of
agricultural education sessions to meet your needs. And don't
worry; Ronny can modify his presentation to meet a teacher's
lesson plan. The sessions could include a walking tour, where
Ronny will give the students information on the rich farm
history, fruit and vegetable production techniques, the importance
of honeybees to farmers, and the famous Lee's turkeys. Why
not make the session a little more interesting by adding a
hayride through the fields and orchards? The harvest educational
session includes a walking tour, where students will see turkeys
and honeybees and learn about the various fruits and vegetables.
At the conclusion of the session, they can pick their own
bag of assorted Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables. The strawberry
educational session will allow students an opportunity to
see and learn about spring fruits and vegetables, honeybees
and baby turkeys. Of course the educational session would
not be complete without the students picking their own quart
of Jersey Fresh strawberries.
