The
New Jersey Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with 19 municipalities,
the New Jersey Highway Authority, Ocean County Park Department, Stockton
State College, Georgian Court University and the New Jersey Forest Service
will begin gypsy moth aerial spraying on or about May 3, 2006 in certain
forested residential areas of New Jersey.
Each area will be treated using aircraft with one or two applications of
Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki (B.t.k.), (undiluted formulation of
Foray 48B) at a dosage rate of 36 B.I.U.s or 96 ounces per acre. The State
Treasury Department has awarded the 2006 spray contract to Downstown Aero
Crop Service of Vineland, New Jersey. The contract price for aerial application,
including the cost of the pesticide, is $39.44 per acre for the southern
counties (south of Trenton) and $39.94 per acre for the northern counties
