Regulators of Financial Institutions in New Jersey
All state-chartered banking institutions are regulated by
the Department of Banking and Insurance, as well as one of the following
federal agencies: the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), the Federal
Reserve Board (FRB) and the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). Federally
chartered banking institutions are regulated by a number of agencies,
including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the FDIC,
the OTS and the FRB. The Department of Banking and Insurance, as well
as the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) regulate state-chartered
credit unions. Federally chartered credit unions are regulated by NCUA.
Check with your financial institution to find out which agencies regulate
it.
