Patricia Smeyers School/District: Clarendon Elementary School - Secaucus School District

Teaches: Elementary

Patricia Smeyers, a fifth grade math teacher and Yearbook Advisor in Secaucus, earned a Master's of Educational Technology and a Technology Integration Specialist Certificate from Boise State University. She is also a Certified Google for Education Trainer. Patricia received the NASA Explorer Schools STEM Teacher Award; her STEM advocacy inspired new curriculum to take root districtwide. She facilitates teachers utilizing proper technology and STEM integration pedagogy. Patricia's students are visibly inspired to question, design, and refine projects and look forward to each real-world challenge presented. She is employed by Boise State University to collaborate with STEM professors and a retired National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut. Their team was awarded a $1,090,312.00 National Science Foundation grant to develop STEM curriculum and teacher training for afterschool programs. Patricia's District Social Media Guide received the Teacher's Guild/ International Society for Technology in Education Favorite Award and was highlighted at the 2018 International Society for Technology in Education Convention.
