DCA RIMS has two kinds of Registrations–
– Registering a business or property that is regulated and inspected by the Division of Fire Safety or the Division of Codes & Standards
– Registering as a DCA RIMS user (so you can use “Registered Services”)
The instructions in this topic are for registering as a DCA RIMS user. As a registered user, you can register your business or property by following the instructions in the appropriate topics - Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement (BFCE) or Bureau of Housing Inspections (BHI) in the RIMS Help System Table of Contents. Non-registered users can register their BHI properties by following the directions in the Non-Registered User New Registration topic.
The DCA RIMS system works in conjunction with the New Jersey Portal. Registered users of DCA RIMS must have a MyNJ account (Log On ID and Password). If you don’t already have a MyNJ account, you will be given the opportunity to create one while you are registering as a DCA RIMS user. If you DO have a MyNJ account, you will be able to link it with DCA RIMS while you are registering for DCA RIMS.
● Click the DCA RIMS icon on the DCA Home Page.
● Select the Non-Registered Services tab.
● Click Request Access (right side of the screen – top of the list).
● Enter your full name in the Contact Name field.
● Enter your business or organization name. If you have no business name, leave the Organization Name blank.
● Enter and confirm your email.
● Click Request.
● If you have a MyNewJersey (MyNJ) account (Log On ID and Password)–
– Select Yes.
– Enter your MyNJ Log On ID and Password.
– Click Continue.
● If you do not have a MyNJ account–
– Select No.
– Enter the requested information to establish your MyNJ account (you will only have to do this ONCE)
– Click Continue
● Enter information in the required (*) fields (and additional information, if desired).
● Provide at least one phone number in Contact Numbers.
● If you have relevant credentials, enter the information in the Credentials section.
● Click Continue
● Select the type of DCA RIMS user you will be

● Click Continue
You will use your Certification PIN to electronically “sign” submissions in DCA RIMS.
● Click Request PIN.
● Click Continue at the Request PIN Confirmation page.
Your PIN will be emailed to you.
● Select the activities that you want listed in your “My Workspace” screen (you can modify this list later in your User Profile).
● Click OK.
● Add the businesses or properties that you own or manage to your User Profile.
After your DCA RIMS and MyNJ accounts have been created and linked, when you want to use RIMS you will—
● Go directly to My NJ
● Login ONCE
● Click the DCA RIMS hyperlink on the left side of the screen
