DCA Awards Over $3 Million In Community Service Block Grants

Funds to Benefit Low Income Residents Across the State

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Acting Commissioner Joseph Doria today announced the award of over $3 million in Community Service Block Grants (CSBG) that will go toward assisting low income residents across the state.

“Community Service Block Grants are about helping those in need,” said Commissioner Doria. “These funds will allow Community Action Agencies to continue the excellent work they have done for low income individuals and families throughout the state.”

CSBG are awarded to local agencies to help provide services such as health, education, employment, income management, housing, emergency services, nutrition, and self-sufficiency and other services to low-income residents in New Jersey.  Ninety percent of the annual allocation must go toward designated community action agencies.  The federally funded program is administered through the Office of Community Action, located within DCA’s Division of Community Resources.
