CHRISTIE ADMINISTRATION SEEKS APPLICANTS TO FILL VACANCIES ON OXFORD TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE
Interested Applicants Must Submit Completed Application to DCA by Extended Deadline of September 12
TRENTON, NJ – The Christie Administration today announced that, as required by existing law, it is seeking individuals to fill vacancies on the Oxford Township Committee. The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is extending the application deadline to Friday, September 12, 2014, in order to give interested individuals more time to apply.
The Township of Oxford, located in Warren County, presently has three vacancies on its three-member Township Committee. Whenever the offices of all or a majority of the members of a municipality’s governing body become vacant, state statute (N.J.S.A. 40A:16-9) grants the Governor the sole power and responsibility to appoint the successors.
The DCA’s Division of Local Government Services, on behalf of the Governor, is collecting the applications. All applicants must be Oxford Township residents and registered to vote in the Township. Applicants must consent to a background check with respect to criminal history, credit history, judgments and driving record.
Individuals interested in being appointed to the Oxford Township Committee should electronically submit a brief letter of interest, resume, and completed questionnaire no later than the close of business September 12, 2014 to dlgs@dca.state.nj.us with "Oxford" in the subject heading. Further information, along with the questionnaire, can be found on the Division’s website at http://www.nj.gov/dca/divisions/dlgs/resources/misc_docs/Oxford_Twp_Committee_Solicitation.docx.
Prospective applicants may contact the Division with any questions at dlgs@dca.state.nj.us with the subject heading "Oxford Questions".
The Division of Local Government Services works with local governments throughout the state to ensure their fiscal integrity and to support their efforts to comply with state laws and regulations.
