CHRISTIE ADMINISTRATION CONTINUES “SEASON OF SERVICE” AS DCA COMMISSIONER VOLUNTEERS AT INTEGRITY HOUSE IN NEWARK
Season of Service Visit Shows Impact of more than $1.4 Million Committed to Integrity House
NEWARK, N.J. – As part of the Christie Administration’s fourth annual "Season of Service," New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III spent the afternoon distributing coats to more than 50 clients of Integrity House located in Newark, NJ. Integrity House is a nationally recognized non-profit substance abuse rehabilitation organization with locations in Newark and Secaucus, New Jersey.
"Giving back is especially important during the holiday season," Commissioner Constable said about his service done today at Integrity House. "This small deed done today can hopefully bring some comfort to those that are less fortunate. Governor Christie and this Administration are committed to helping those with substance abuse disorders receive the attention and care they need, and Integrity House is doing just that through the strong supportive rehabilitative environment they provide on a daily basis."
Integrity House offers a full continuum of care to help individuals with substance abuse disorders including long- and short-term residential care, outpatient programs and supportive services. Integrity House is committed to helping individuals and families through an effective and measurable system of comprehensive therapeutic community addictions treatment and recovery support in a way that brings about positive, long-term, lifestyle change.
The Administration’s commitment to Integrity House is demonstrated through the award of more than $1.4 million in grants through DCA’s Shelter Support and Community Service Block Grant programs. Additionally, the NJ Department of Human Services, through the Division of Addiction Services, most recently awarded Integrity House with a $572,296 grant for their Drug Court Residential Treatment program.
Robert J. Budsock, Integrity House President & CEO said "We're thrilled that Commissioner Constable had a chance to meet and work with some of our clients today. DCA has been a strong partner of Integrity House and today's project showed their commitment to our mission."
The "Season of Service" initiative was started to encourage volunteering, highlight service opportunities in the state, and call attention to those New Jerseyans who are already volunteering in their communities. It started the day before Thanksgiving 2011 when Governor Christie, First Lady Mary Pat Christie and three of their four children volunteered at the Ladle of Love soup kitchen at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Burlington City. Since then members of the Governor’s cabinet have volunteered their time and will continue to do so throughout the month of December with a particular focus on drug addiction treatment and recovery.
